Discovering the Kingdom NOW

Deacons

Deacons in the Bible Fellowship Groups
The Deacon Ministry at Temple is coordinated through the Bible Fellowship Groups. It is a plan through which the deacons help in ministering to the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of each church member and family. Each Bible Fellowship Group has a deacon assigned to it. The assigned deacon will minister to each member of the Bible Fellowship Group throughout the year.

Will My Child Have a Different Deacon?
Yes, it is most likely that your child will have his or her own deacon. This simply gives your family greater coverage in times of need. Just imagine, if your family should encounter some kind of difficulty, your child's deacon will respond with the expressed purpose of ministering specifically to him or her!

How Can a Deacon Help Me?
Of course, you are the only one who can answer that question. However, there are some specific ways your deacon wants to try to help:

Visitation
Your deacon may make visits thoughout the year when someone in your family is in the hospital or you have sorrow or sickness in the home.

Supporting You in Witnessing
As a deacon in a reaching church, one of your deacon's chief concerns is that you have the tools and support you need to witness to every member of your family and everyone that God puts into your path.

Rejoicing with You and Your Family
Your deacon will share your joy when you celebrate important accomplishments in your life.

Being Your Friend
As your deacon listens to your troubles and concerns, you will know someone who cares.

Giving Support in Times of Crisis
Sometimes your deacon can help you through the crisis by listening and giving support. Other times he will know someone else or a community agency that can help.

Helping You Know Other Members
Your deacon will encourage you to participate in social occasions when other church members and families get together for fun and fellowship.

Praying for You and With You
Believing that you are improtant and believeing in the power of prayer, your deacon will join with the pastoral staff and other deacons in praying for you and each member of your family. A part of each deacons' meeting is spent praying about specific needs of families and in rejoicing over needs met and victories won.
